About the museum
The Särevi Teatrituba (Särev Theatre Room) is the only museum in Estonia devoted to theatre people. It operates in the flat where the theatre people Andres and Anna Särev lived. Andres Särev (1902–1970) was an actor, director, theatre manager and dramatist, whose nearly 40 adaptations enriched the Estonian theatre repertoire. Anna Särev (1900–1980) was an actress of the Estonia Theatre and the Tallinna Töölisteater (Tallinn Workers’ Theatre).
The Särevs lived from 1937 in a three-room flat at Tina 23-13 in Kadriorg. Their home was hospitable, and among their guests were well-known writers and cultural and theatre figures. As they had no children, the Särevs wished that after their death a theatre museum would operate in the flat; the museum opened there on 7 May 1982.
