About the museum
The Värska Farm Museum opened in 1998 and was formerly called the Seto Farm Museum. The museum began with a smoke sauna, which was its first building. From the beginning the collection has covered almost everything connected with Setomaa, the Setos and Seto culture: from wooden spoons to buildings and stories. Since 2019 the museum has belonged to the Setomaa Museums.
In the traditional farmstead visitors get an overview of how the Setos lived, ate, furnished their homes and dressed. The museum displays late 19th- and 20th-century farm architecture, old tools and handicrafts. The museum organises events presenting Seto culture, for example Seto lace days, folklore evenings and the preparation of Seto food.
