About the museum
The Jalokivinäyttely is located on the third floor of the main building of the LumiLinna area in Kemi. It opened to the public on 28 May 2025.
The exhibition is a selection from the collection of the former Jalokivigalleria (Gemstone Gallery) of Kemi, which was once considered Europe's largest collection of stones. From the 1980s the gallery was housed in the historic customs chamber of the Inner Harbour, and its collections were later moved to new premises.
The exhibition presents jewellery and gemstones from Finland and from around the world, and at the same time introduces Finland's geological heritage. Replicas of Queen Elisabeth's crown and of Marie Antoinette's necklace are also on display. The pieces in the exhibition were made by local craftspeople.
