About the museum
The Jokioisten Museorautatie is a 14-kilometre narrow-gauge railway in south-western Häme, in the municipalities of Jokioinen and Humppila. Its track gauge is 750 millimetres, a little under half the gauge of the state rail network. The line was built between Humppila and Jokioinen in 1897–1898, and passenger traffic ended in 1974.
The museum railway began operating in the late 1970s. Its stations are Humppila, Jokioinen and Minkiö, and there are seven halts. Museum trains run to the timetable on Sundays in June and July and on Saturdays in August; a journey can begin, for example, in Humppila, which can be reached by car or by VR train.
At Minkiö station there is a narrow-gauge railway museum, consisting of the original station setting and the locomotives and carriages displayed in the yard and the rolling stock hall. The rolling stock comes from several narrow-gauge railways that operated in Finland. Minkiö also has a café and a souvenir shop.
