About the museum
The Ypäjän kunnan kotiseutumuseo is located in Perttula village, about one kilometre from the centre of Ypäjä. Over the years, buildings from various parts of Ypäjä have been moved to the museum area. The first building, the so-called lukkarin puustelli (the parish clerk's puustelli), was moved to the area as early as 1941, but the actual museum activity began only in 1966.
The area has the lukkarintupa (clerk's cottage), the Laurila croft, a windmill, a smoke sauna and a storehouse. The parsonage's paririihi (double threshing barn) is the only building that stands in its original location. The threshing barn, built in 1896, is large, and its stoves are located outside the building. The storehouse was built in the 18th century and moved to the museum area in 1964.
In summer the yard of the museum area also serves as the stage of the Ypäjän musiikkiteatteri (Ypäjä Music Theatre).
