About the museum
The Lepaa garden museum is located in a culturally valuable manor landscape near Vanajavesi, about 17 kilometres from Hämeenlinna. The Lepaa horticultural school founded the museum together with the Finnish Horticultural Association (Puutarhaliitto) in 1975, and today it is maintained by Suomen puutarhaperinne ry (Finnish Garden Heritage Association).
The basis of the museum consists of tools used at the Lepaa horticultural school, the school's photograph collections, garden plans, teaching materials and documents. The exhibition spaces are in the attic of a former cowshed, connected with the Lepaa wine estate.
The permanent exhibition presents the main areas of horticulture and the history of the Lepaa horticultural school, which spans more than a century. In the same space there is a photo exhibition that tells the story of Aino Sibelius's garden.
