About the museum
Malmtorps bondgårdsmuseum was founded in 2000 and is maintained by the association Bondgårdsmuseets vänner r.f. (Friends of the Farm Museum). The museum gives a picture of living and housing conditions in the countryside at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
The main building is a storstuga (large farmhouse) from 1877 that has been moved to the site. The large stove, the furniture and the utensils show how people lived and dwelt in the past. In the loft storehouse there is a mangle room and a small school museum with typical teaching aids from the early 20th century. In the upper loft, a simple sickroom from the years of unrest and a costume room with clothes from bygone times have been set up.
In the carriage shed are old carriages, carts, sleighs and various agricultural tools, as well as some tractors from the 1940s and 1950s.
