About the museum
Raseborgs museum’s exhibition activities are in the centre of Ekenäs, at Museigatan 8. The museum shop, the café and the museum lounge are in the same building. On the museum grounds is the historic Borgargården with its outbuilding, which is open in summer and at Christmas time.
At the museum you can see the exhibition Helene i Ekenäs, a permanent cultural-historical exhibition that opened on 12 June 2026. It tells of the life of the artist Helene Schjerfbeck (1862–1946) in Ekenäs during 1918–1941 and presents works, objects, photographs and archive material on her daily life, her relationships and her work, as well as the trials of the wartime. The script was written by art historian Anna Kortelainen, and the exhibition has received support from the Svenska Kulturfonden.
The museum also includes the open-air museum Forngården in Snappertuna, Chappe and the collection storage Leira in Ekenäs. The museum is also the regional responsibility museum for Västra Nyland and acts as an expert on cultural heritage questions in the region. It was previously known as Museicentrum EKTA.
