About the museum
Museokoti Mummola is a private home museum on Jokelantie in Sorkkala village, Pirkkala. It is located in the 19th-century double-room farmhands' house (paritupa) of Haikka manor, which from the 1850s served as housing for the manor's workers. The building was dismantled, donated by Pirkkala-Seura, and re-erected at its present site in 1983. Liisa Ilo restored and furnished it.
The museum has the atmosphere of the old days, handicrafts, peasant life and heritage building, as well as various household decorative and utility objects, such as old dishes, furniture and toys. The collection includes dozens of old Arabia jugs and pitchers (kaatimet). Some of the objects change every year according to themes, and there are also changing exhibitions.
Visitors can play with the toys, and the museum has many child visitors. The grounds include a summer house, a milk platform (maitolava), and a play barn and playhouse (leikkiaitta ja -mökki).
