About the museum
The Reipin museo was founded by Pirkkala-seura in 1960 in the Reipinniemi outdoor recreation area. In 1976 the museum passed into the ownership of the Municipality of Pirkkala, which still maintains it. The museum hill lies in the immediate vicinity of Tursiannotko, known for its archaeological finds.
The museum area has three storehouses, a parilato (traditional barn building), a smithy and a shed. The collection consists mainly of farmers’ objects from the late 1800s and the 1900s, related to rural livelihoods, food economy and handicrafts. In addition, the museum has a school museum collection, which tells of school life in former times.
The collection can also be viewed in the Siiri database. In summer, outdoor guided tours are held on the museum hill, and the Rautakauden Birckala (Iron Age Birckala) event is held there every year.
