About the museum
The Pälämäen kotiseutumuseo tells the story of settlement history in Jämsä in the 1700s and 1800s. Several surface finds and grave finds have been made in the area, and these have been important for research into the settlement history of Jämsä.
The museum buildings show the life of a fairly prosperous Jämsä farm at the end of the 1800s. Some of the buildings date from the 1700s, and the objects extend to later times. All the buildings were moved to Pälämäki from different parts of Jämsä by the early 1960s.
The museum is located right near the centre of Jämsä and Himos, on the grounds of the folk high school.
