About the museum
Palanderin talo is a home museum of the Hämeenlinna City Museum, which presents the way of life of a Hämeenlinna bourgeois family about 120 years ago. The house has furnished rooms ranging from the formal salon to the servants’ kitchen.
Visitors are guided by the lady of the house, a daughter or a maid. The museum shows the living conditions, decor and traditions of the 1880s and 1890s, and the house also hosts seasonal events such as kekri (autumn festival) and the Christmas opening (joulunavaus).
Palanderin talo is one of the four museum sites of the Hämeenlinna City Museum, together with Museo Skogster, Sibeliuksen syntymäkoti (Sibelius Birthplace) and the Savings Bank Museum (Säästöpankkimuseo).
