About the museum
The Prästgårdsmuseet in Korsnäs shows how an Ostrobothnian pastor's family lived in the late 19th century. The parsonage was built in 1831–32 at the same time as the village church, built to the drawings of Carl Ludvig Engel, and the building served as the parish priest's residence until 1967. It has been preserved as it looked at the beginning of the 20th century, and the elegant rooms are furnished with period furniture. The museum is one of only two such specialist museums in Finland.
The parsonage was built according to the so-called manor plan and was extended by eleven metres in the 1890s. The interior has original tiled stoves from the 1890s and newly printed Korsnäs wallpaper in old patterns. The bishop's room, which was once used for travelling guests, is furnished in neo-Renaissance style. The furniture is in late Empire, neo-Rococo, neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque styles, and some of it was donated by pastors' families with connections to the area.
In the attic there is a school museum about the middle-school-level teaching given by parish priest Sigurd Öhrberg in the 1930s. The garden gives an impression of a park setting.
