About the museum
The Suomen pesäpallomuseo (Finnish Pesäpallo Museum) was opened in 1998 and received national status in 2004. The museum is located in Vimpeli, which is known as the pesäpallo town. It was moved to its present site beside Saarikenttä at the beginning of 2022.
The exhibition displays shirts of various teams, umpires' clothing, playing equipment and the trophies of pesäpallo legends. The Kunniagalleria (Gallery of Honour) features 25 distinguished female and male pesäpallo players, and the gallery is to be updated with new pictures.
In the digital section visitors can watch nostalgic live recordings and interviews with pesäpallo legends, and try commentating on the decisive moments of matches. The museum's virtual exhibition presents the history of the national game from the days of Tahko Pihkala to the present.
