About the museum
The Finnish Computer Museum began operating in 1985 as the Data Processing Museum committee, and since 1995 the museum has been run by the registered association Suomen Tietojenkäsittelymuseoyhdistys ry. The association's founder, Ilari Taulio, began collecting material in the 1970s for his private premises.
The museum's collection currently comprises about 600 computers, peripherals and maintenance equipment, as well as about 250 books. All the objects are donations from companies and private individuals. The machines date from the early years of Finnish information technology up to the 1990s, and they include five computer models that were among the first in Finland, as well as machines not found elsewhere in Finland.
The storage exhibition is located at the Kanavuori depot in Vaajakoski. The museum is run by volunteers and cooperates with, among others, the Keski-Suomen museo and the Tekniikan museo.
