About the museum
Taide- ja museokeskus Sinkka (Sinkka Art and Museum Centre) is a museum run by the City of Kerava's museum services in the Sampola district, about 600 metres from Kerava railway station. Keravan museopalvelut (Kerava Museum Services) present, research and record local history and interesting phenomena of contemporary art, and they belong to the City of Kerava's cultural services. Sinkka is open all year round and receives about 23,000 visitors a year.
Sinkka's changing exhibitions present current art, the history of design and the past of Kerava. In addition to exhibitions the museum offers cultural events, guided tours and programmes for families with children. On the floors there is also a museum shop and a small café.
The museum's collections are divided into an art collection, applied-arts collections and a cultural-history collection. In the Sinkka drawing office (Piirustuskonttori), the professional museum storage of the collections is combined with exhibition and activity, and the backstage of museum work is opened to the public. The museum services also maintain the Heikkilä museum area, which tells of the life of a farmstead in Kerava from the mid-19th century to the early 1930s.
