About the museum
The Lottamuseo is a museum run by the Lotta Svärd Foundation on the shore of Lake Tuusulanjärvi. It presents the history of the Lotta Svärd organisation and of the voluntary work of Finnish women. The museum has been operating since 1996.
The main exhibition, Lotta Svärd – Tulevaisuuden rakentajat (Lotta Svärd – Builders of the Future), is a journey through time of more than a hundred years, telling of the Lottas' stories and life fates. It features photographs, archive material and personal objects of the Lottas from the museum's collections. The focus of the exhibition is women's voluntary work and its connection to Finnish history.
The museum's collections can be searched in Finna, and the Digilotta virtual museum offers material online. The museum also has the Lottakanttiini café, the Lottapuoti museum shop and a garden with a play area for children.
