About the museum
The Apt museum is housed in the former Marliagues candied fruit factory in Apt. It presents the human history of the area, from prehistory to the present day. An introductory room, opened on February 7, 2025, shows how the territory was settled from prehistory up to the industrial era.
The permanent display is devoted to three major local industries since the 18th century: candied fruit, the specialty of Apt; ochre, with its extraction and refining; and fine faience from Apt and Castellet, of which the museum holds more than 250 pieces as well as architectural ceramics.
The Apta Julia annex holds archaeological finds from Antiquity. It can only be visited by appointment, with a guided tour booked in advance.
