About the museum
The Musée des boissons was designed in 2004 by sommelier Marc Massot, and the collection remains his personal property. It brings together objects related to the making, bottling and serving of water, fruit juices, coffee, herbal teas, chocolate, cider, wine, beer, spirits and whisky, as well as a library, a documentation centre and archives.
Since 2014, the collection has been managed by an association, founded in 2006 under the name Amis du musée de la sommellerie and renamed Association du Musée des boissons in 2015. The Fédération des musées d’agriculture et du patrimoine rural (AFMA) recognised the museum in April 2020, and the association was recognised as being in the general interest in June 2020.
The visit begins with baby bottles, then covers water, coffee, milk, chocolate, herbal teas, fruit juices and cider. It then presents the drinks of Anjou (beer, guignolet, eaux-de-vie, liqueurs, whisky), followed by objects, the history of the vineyard, the evolution of stoppering and various production machines.
