About the museum
Opened in 1988, the costume museum aimed to present the diversity of costumes worn at the end of the last century in various villages of Savoy, with an emphasis on that of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Its collections belong to ethnology and decorative arts, with costumes, textiles, paintings, as well as objects linked to trades and tools. The museum is located in the village of Hauteville-Gondon, Place de l’église, and its storage is housed in the former presbytery.
According to the register of the Musées de France (Muséofile, updated in March 2026), the museum has held the “Musée de France” label since 2003 but is not open to the public.
