About the museum
The museum is named after Pierre Borrione, mayor of Aime. Anticipating the closure of the La Plagne mines, he brought several communes together to found the La Plagne ski resort.
Situated on the Saint-Sigismond hill, the museum presents the lives of the people of the Tarentaise from the Neolithic to the modern era. Prehistoric tools, grave goods, Gallo-Roman architecture, jewelry, pottery and coins tell the story of Aime, a town of the Gallic people of the Ceutrons which became capital of the Roman province of the Alpes Graies in 21 BC.
The Société d’histoire et d’archéologie d’Aime now manages the collections. The museum bears the “Musée de France” label. Reception and visits are organized jointly with La Plagne Vallée.
