About the museum
The Ferme du Gabach covers about 30 hectares on the banks of the Lot at Lafitte-sur-Lot and has existed since 1962, the year its first Ente plum trees were planted. The current operators took it over in 2017, together with its museum.
The museum tells the story of the plum, from its origins in the East to the pruneau d’Agen, and recalls more than a hundred years of plum cultivation. It also presents drying methods of the past and present. The visit consists of a historical section in the museum, a film about the farm and its work through the four seasons, and a tasting of the house’s products. Visitors can explore freely with an audio guide or join a guided tour.
The farm produces its own prunes, from planting to processing, and sells them in its shop. At the end of 2018 it diversified into strawberry greenhouses.
