About the museum
The municipal museum was founded in 1912 by deputy and mayor Martial Sicard, teacher Eugène Derbez and Marquis Charles d’Autane. It was first housed in the former Convent of the Visitandines, today the town hall. At the initiative of mayor David Gehant, it was later moved to the old town, to rue Grande, into the former home of contemporary art dealer Lucien Henry. After a renovation campaign, it spans three levels.
The collections, labeled “Musée de France”, shed light on the history of the town. The permanent exhibition follows a chronological order from prehistory to the 1980s, with archaeology, fine arts, everyday objects and religious objects. It ends with the contemporary art collection of Lucien Henry. A temporary exhibition is held every year.
