About the museum
The Sault municipal museum was founded in 1859 by Henri Chrestian. Its collections bring together prehistoric, Gallo-Roman and medieval objects, minerals and fossils, a mummy and Egyptian objects, weapons and paintings by the local painter Évariste de Valernes. Its library holds, among other things, a parchment about the region and an edition of Diderot’s Encyclopédie.
