About the museum

La Nef des Jouets is housed in a former commandery of the Order of Malta, whose foundations date back to the 13th century. The building extends over three floors, covering around 1,100 m². Restoration began in 1992.

The museum presents the toy collection of Joëlle and Richard Haeusser, opened to the public in 1994. It includes trains, cars, lead soldiers, dolls, bears, puppets, soft toys, board games, handmade and tinplate toys, as well as automata. The collections grow through purchases, donations and loans.

The chapel hosts temporary exhibitions. Play areas are set up on the ground floor and on the third floor. The museum also organises activities for children, birthday parties and, every year, a doll and teddy bear swap meet in March and a figurine and miniature swap meet in November.
