About the museum
The Alt-Freden-Sammlung is housed in a historic school building from 1866 in Freden (Leine). It displays rural cultural heritage from house, farm and workshop, giving insight into earlier village life.
Prehistoric finds point to the long settlement history of the place. Freden's development into an industrial site is illustrated with objects from potash mining, lime extraction and the glass industry. The museum is looked after by Rainer Gerking, with whom visits are arranged by phone.
