About the museum
The Eifel Heimatmuseum in Bergweiler, a local municipality in the Verbandsgemeinde Wittlich-Land, is located on Kirchstraße next to the parish church. It tells the local history of the village and shows how agriculture and crafts shaped everyday life in the Eifel.
The collection includes agricultural implements for farm, field, vineyard and forest, as well as 19th-century craft tools, for example from carpenters, wheelwrights and blacksmiths.
At the center is an oil painting that depicts one of the legends of the Wittlich Säubrennerkirmes. The artist Otto Frankfurter painted it in 1980; it is considered probably the largest oil painting in Rhineland-Palatinate.
