About the museum
The local history museum is housed in a farmhouse from the 1830s on Hofstraße. The municipality had the typical local farmstead restored. The Heimat- und Kulturverein, founded in 1984, then set up the museum there and opened it in 1996. Since then the house has also served as the association's clubhouse.
The restored rooms show how people lived and worked in the countryside in the 19th century; the walls are decorated with historic stencil and roller patterns. A special feature is a collection of ceramic washbasin sets from the Boch factory in Mettlach, which shows how personal hygiene developed in the 19th century. Thematic exhibitions connect the museum with village life.
Next to the museum stands the Bakscheier, opened in 2003, part of the former farm estate with an old bread oven, where festivals and baking days are sometimes held. Since the museum's 25th anniversary, a virtual 360-degree tour can also be started via the municipality's website or by QR code at the entrance.
