About the museum
The Dorfmuseum Dierscheid in the South Eifel is set up in a former wheelwright's workshop. The conversion of the workshop into a museum received an award in 1995 in the competition "Neue Nutzung in alten Gebäuden" (new use of old buildings).
The displays include tools of typical village trades such as wheelwright, carpenter, farrier and locksmith, as well as equipment from farming, forestry and the household, and scenes of work from village life in the past. There are also Roman coin and pottery finds, finds from the Viktoriaquelle spring sanctuary, a fossil collection, remains of old water pipes made of wood and lead, and documents on a water pipeline for Schloss Dodenburg.
A friends' association looks after the house and also invites visitors on hikes around the village.
