About the museum
The Eisenbahn-Club Aschersleben was founded on February 22, 1964. It initially built model railways and later mainly larger layouts in TT gauge, through which it became known beyond the GDR. When the premises were terminated, the club found a home in a trailer coach train provided by the Reichsbahn, in which the exhibitions attracted many visitors.
After German reunification, the working group became a registered association. Since summer 1994 it has used a disused locomotive shed of Deutsche Bahn, in which a regional museum for railways and technology has emerged. On display are Reichsbahn equipment such as ticket printers, signals and lamps, as well as over 30 vehicles, including small locomotives, freight wagons, an old crane train and a lavishly restored saloon car.
The association also researches the transport and technology history of the region, for example the history of the Culemeyer Straßenroller (road trailer), which was first used in regular service in Aschersleben in 1934.
