Fahrzeug- und Technikmuseum Fürstenau
Private museum in the former manor granary of Fürstenau (Uckermark) with GDR cars, tractors, motorcycles and everyday objects.
About the museum
Gerhard Eberwein founded the private museum in 2013 in the village of Fürstenau, which belongs to the Buchenhain district of the municipality of Boitzenburger Land. It is housed in a former granary of the Fürstenau estate, which was restored in 2012; in 2013 a second exhibition hall was added. In total, about 600 square meters of exhibition space are available.
The focus is on vehicles from the GDR and their surroundings: on display are cars such as the IFA F9, Trabant P 50 and GAZ M-21 Volga, as well as motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, trucks and buses and numerous tractors and engines. According to the inventory overview, the collection includes, among other things, 17 cars, 16 tractors, about 25 engines and several trucks and buses. Many pieces, including the Trabant and Wartburg, were expertly restored by the operator himself.
The vehicle collection is complemented by old agricultural tools, a historic workshop and objects of rural everyday life from the 1950s to the 1980s. The museum is directly on Lake Fürstenau, and the small museum café serves coffee and cake. Several times a year, vintage car enthusiasts meet on the grounds.
