About the museum
The Waldmuseum "Lütt Holthus" is located directly on the grounds of the Lüttenhagen forestry office in the Lüttenhagen district of the Feldberger Seenlandschaft. It is run by the forestry office of the Landesforst Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is designed as a museum to touch and try, and conveys knowledge about native forests with their animal and plant life.
Inside, taxidermy animals bring local wildlife closer. Beech and pine, the main tree species of the area, have their own sections, and slide series show the forest through the year. Hands-on stations include a scent organ, a sound box, the "Waldapotheke" (forest pharmacy) of Doctor Wald, and a walk-in fox den. Outdoors there are an old forestry workers' wagon, a Harz hut and a mini tree nursery.
