About the museum
The museum goes back to the private collection of Egon Frings, who, as a full-time chief fire master of the Düren volunteer fire brigade, gathered items related to firefighting for decades. After his retirement he made the collection accessible to the public.
Since May 2009 the museum has been housed on the ground floor of the south wing of the St. Augustinus Hospital in Lendersdorf. Under the guiding theme "Fire brigades national and international", it shows more than 1,000 pieces, including helmets and badges from Germany and many other countries, standpipes, nozzles and other fittings, hand-drawn fire carts, equipment, and certificates and documents.
