About the museum

The Flugausstellung in Hermeskeil opened in 1973 as a private family business and still bears the name of the founding Junior family. On the site at Habersberg, the collection grew steadily over the decades; the museum is still run as a family business today.

Today the exhibits are spread across extensive outdoor grounds and four exhibition halls with a total of around 3,600 square meters of covered space. More than 100 original aircraft and helicopters are on display, from early gliders and propeller planes to jet fighters and airliners, plus an extensive collection of around 60 aircraft engines.

Among the most striking pieces are large airliners such as a Lockheed Super Constellation in Lufthansa livery and a Vickers VC10, the heavy-lift Mil Mi-6 transport helicopter and numerous combat aircraft from East and West, such as MiG-series aircraft, the Starfighter, Phantom, Tornado and Saab Viggen. A Concorde replica serves as the museum café.

The museum operates seasonally, opening each year from early April to early November; since 2026 it has been closed on Mondays unless they are a public holiday.
