About the museum
The half-timbered house at Steingasse 4 was built in 1457 and is considered the second-oldest half-timbered house in Eppingen. It stands on an old path that leads from the old town down to the medieval gardens outside the town wall; visitors coming from the station along the half-timbered trail see the crooked house right away.
For a long time, the Frankeburg belonged to the Förderverein Raußmühle e. V. In 2016, the municipal council decided to cover renovation costs of up to €120,000; in return, the association committed to using the house as a museum and opening it to visitors on at least six days a year. In spring 2026, the administrative committee of the town of Eppingen decided to take over the building as a further museum facility; the Heimatfreunde Eppingen (local history friends) look after it and open it as sponsors.
The uninhabited, furnished house allows visitors to experience the way of living and daily life in a medieval town.
