About the museum

The museum is located in the New Speyer Parsonage on the Eppingen church hill, first mentioned in 1513. After the Reformation, the deacon, the town's second Reformed pastor, lived here from 1556 to 1715. Until secularization in 1803 the building belonged to the St. Guidostift in Speyer.

The museum opened in the basement in 2003. The exhibition goes back mainly to the collecting activity of Friedbert Andernach and shows Catholic devotional objects and religious customs from the 18th to the 20th century. It is supplemented by objects from the Protestant pictorial world and by Jewish ritual objects.

The museum also includes the Longinuskreuz (Longinus cross) by the church and a museum cemetery in the outdoor area of the churchyard. The house is run by the Catholic parish.
