Kultur-Historisches Privatmuseum Sack
Reinhold Sack's private collection in Eppingen's old town, featuring stoves, clocks, toys and crafts – group tours by appointment.
About the museum
This private museum at Eichgasse 1 in Eppingen's old town displays the collection of Reinhold Sack, who personally guides groups through the house by arrangement. The objects bear witness to the everyday life, crafts and childhood of earlier generations and are arranged by theme across four floors.
The first floor holds cast-iron stoves – including three so-called Irish stoves by the Mannheim firm Esch & Cie – along with irons and door and cabinet locks. The second floor is devoted to clocks and watches: from wall clocks and longcase clocks to pocket watches and wristwatches by well-known makers, all the way to the Black Forest cuckoo clock. The collection is complemented by the complete workshop of the Eppingen watchmaker Fritz Hoffmann.
The third floor is all about the world of children, with dolls, baby carriages and doll carriages, and tin toys. Under the roof, rural household items such as flour sacks, copper baking molds, Springerle cookie molds, earthenware vessels and scales are on display. Objects from more than ten crafts, such as coopering, laundering and baking, as well as memorabilia from Eppingen's former movie theater round out the collection.
