About the museum
The museum opened in 1987 and is privately run. Its unusual name comes from the old name of today's Rodheimer Straße, which used to be called "Froaschgass".
It is housed in a farmstead more than 200 years old in the Wettenberg district of Krofdorf-Gleiberg. Across three floors, around 5,000 privately collected pieces are arranged by theme. They show domestic, rural and craft life over more than two centuries: a living kitchen, a bakery, collections of ceramics and tinware, bridal trousseaus, an old general store and antique toys. Miniature replicas of a butcher's shop and a schoolroom are also on display.
