About the museum
The Hallertau Hop and Local History Museum is dedicated to the history of Geisenfeld and the Hallertau hop-growing region. For many years it was housed in the Old Town Hall, a Renaissance building from 1626 in the town centre, which was also home to the associated traditional costume society.
When the comprehensive renovation of the Old Town Hall began in 2012, the museum had to move out. Until a new permanent home is found, the supporting association is showing the collection on a somewhat reduced scale on Augsburger Straße; the prehistory and early history section is not on display there.
On show are the working tools of hop farmers of earlier times, a furnished cobbler's workshop, a grocer's shop and a smithy, plus fossils and a focus on regional costumes.
