About the museum
The Deggendorf Crafts Museum opened in 1991 in the town center, directly opposite the Stadtmuseum (city museum) on Maria-Ward-Platz.
Eight sections give an overview of the cultural history of regional crafts. Relics, tools, machines, and products show how work and life have changed in traditional and modern crafts. The permanent exhibitions cover, among other things, the history of crafts in four periods, crafts in the industrial age, woodworking in the Bavarian Forest, the lives of craftspeople, and training from apprentice to master. In the museum letterpress shop, visitors can experience the atmosphere of a Deggendorf print shop around 1960.
The museum is a member of the "Museen inklusive" network and certified under "Reisen für Alle." In addition, a museum education program offers guided tours, workshops, children's birthday parties, and an escape room.
