About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Altenthann (founded 1989) shows the rural culture of the time before industrialization. It makes clear how mechanization, electrification, new transport routes, new means of communication and industrially made goods profoundly changed village life and social relations in everyday life.
Displayed are farm work, rural crafts and forestry, as well as the work of women in the household and on the farm and the life of children between school and work. The museum places a particular focus on supporting school classes: teachers and children receive materials on various topics, so that learning in the museum can also be fun.
