About the museum
The Heimatmuseum in Berolzheim, a district of Ahorn in the Main-Tauber district, is run by the Heimatverein Zehntweghütte (local heritage association). In 1997 the association began setting up a museum in the former bull barn; it was opened on July 8, 2000, during a village festival. The association's folk dance group was founded on the same occasion.
The museum brings the everyday life and crafts of earlier times back to life. The region, nicknamed "Badisch Sibirien" (Baden Siberia), was shaped strongly by farming, and many machines and tools recall the hard work in the fields and on the farm. The ground floor displays equipment for producing Grünkern, for which the region is known. The upper floor holds a parlor with kitchen and bathroom, a former classroom, a forge, a shoemaker's shop, and the cooper's, wheelwright's, and joiner's workshops.
Since the anniversary year 2025, a "digital museum" supplements the display: more than 30 QR codes let visitors access Berolzheim's history and stories in dialect.
