About the museum
The Heimatverein Eitensheim was founded in 1995 and in 1997 began the project of creating a local history museum. The municipality made the long-unused former bull barn on the Bachl available to it rent-free. The building dates from 1937 and once kept breeding animals; in 1965 the artificial insemination service there was discontinued.
Over many hours of volunteer work the cattle shed was converted without destroying its barn character. On August 24, 2003 the building was blessed at a museum festival and the museum opened.
The exhibition spans roughly 200 square meters across three floors. On show are small agricultural equipment and machines, a large carpet loom, rope-making machines, equipment for must and wine production and for butchery, as well as eight display cases of archaeological finds, including finds from the Bell Beaker period. In the attic lie tools of former local craft businesses and household items.
