About the museum
The Marktmuseum is housed in the Winterbauer estate, a listed Jura house from 1536 on Pebenhauser Straße. It is run by the Marktmuseum Gaimersheim association and was set up in 2008.
Across four floors, the museum presents the history of the town. The focus is on local Stone Age finds, topics from the Roman period, and the school history of Gaimersheim. It also shows the residents and history of the house, as well as the market, club, and church history of the town, up to the Second World War. The guiding question is what makes up Heimat (home).
Gaimersheim was probably granted market rights around 1302 and was later affected several times by wars and billeting. The town history, which the municipality provides for the museum, also reports on this.
