About the museum
The association Heimatmuseum Erbenheim e.V. was founded on November 9, 1983, to set up a museum and collect local heritage. The first rooms in the former Erbenheim town hall were opened on December 1, 1984. In 2016 the association succeeded in renting the entire building. Since then it has been a hub for club life and is also used by other clubs, the Ortsgericht (local court) and for weddings.
The exhibition spans from the Roman and Frankish periods, through Erbenheim's first documented mention in 927, to today's Wiesbaden district and transport hub. This includes the transformation of the former horse racetrack into the American airbase. Other topics are the former railway station with the Ländchesbahn, Erbenheim's schools, and the village's contribution to milk supply for Wiesbaden. Historical maps and photographs round out the display.
An extensive local history library and the archive of the "Erbenheimer Anzeiger" can be consulted on request. The association has around 100 members.
