Heimatmuseum Erkner

Opening hoursAdmission €2

About the museum

The local history museum is located on the listed Museumshof am Sonnenluch. At the heart of the farmstead is an Ernhaus from around 1760, regarded as the oldest of its kind in Central Germany and dating from the period of Frederician internal colonization.

The permanent exhibition leads from the Bronze Age to the present day through the history of the town, with a black kitchen and a journey of discovery through the GDR, including a furnished apartment. In a converted barn, further exhibitions show crafts and trades in Erkner as well as the beginnings of the plastic Bakelite and the chemical industry in the town.

Outside, a herb garden, an orchard meadow and a historic stone bread oven invite visitors to linger. The museum is run by the Heimatverein Erkner.
