About the museum
The Laubusch local history museum is run by the Heimatverein Laubusch e. V. (local heritage association). The town of Lauta provided the association with rooms in the Kulturhaus Laubusch, where the museum was set up.
The focus is the influence of lignite (brown coal) on the village, which became a miners' settlement with a garden city. The association shows permanent exhibitions as well as changing, theme-based exhibitions, and publishes articles, for example on the Erika briquette factory, the Ilse Bergbau AG mining company and the building of the miners' village.
The association has also designed outdoor areas, including memorial stones for the village of Laubusch and the briquette factory, and information boards on the garden city. Schools and other groups can take guided tours of the museum and the village's heritage sites.
