About the museum
The museum goes back to the teacher Braun, who founded it in 1961 in the school of Margarethenried; his successor Alfons Wörner expanded the collection further. After the Margarethenried elementary school closed in 1969, the municipality of Hörgertshausen provided rooms in the primary and secondary school in Hörgertshausen, where the exhibits have been shown ever since.
On an area of more than 400 square metres, the everyday life of people in the Hallertau is presented, mainly between 1850 and 1950. On view are a fully furnished living room and bedroom, a 1930s kitchen, agricultural vehicles and machinery, a cobbler's workshop and a fully equipped smithy.
