About the museum
The museum is run by the Heimatpflegeverein Bruckberg, which has looked after local history and the appearance of the village since 1959. At the end of 2021 its volunteers opened the Museum Vinum Celticum opposite the parish church on Dorfstraße. It was created as the first building block of the museum network “Drei Täler – 7000 Jahre” in the district of Landshut, in which each house was given its own core themes – for Bruckberg, the Celts and wine. The Landesstelle für die nichtstaatlichen Museen in Bayern emphasised that the small museum deliberately limits itself to these two narrative strands.
In the Hallstatt room visitors feel transported to the Bruckberg Mooswiesen meadows: a reconstructed burial mound gives a view into the open grave chamber of the “wealthy woman of Bruckberg”, whom the association has named Isira. Replicas of her grave goods lie on a drawing of her skeleton as it was found; visitors may pick up the jewellery. A head reconstruction modelled by a forensic pathologist shows the Celtic warrior “Brogilo”.
A walk-through amphora leads on to the wine. There stands a Neolithic beaker from the Bruckberg Rathausplatz, which the association presents as the oldest beaker in Bavaria. The second room tells of viticulture on the slopes of the Isar, documented in writing for Thulbach as early as 754, up to a present-day hobby winemaker in the village. Short films on local history complement the exhibition, and Isira guides visitors through the rooms on child-friendly panels. A circular trail of about three kilometres with information boards on the find sites starts at the museum, and next to the playground association members have built a Celtic house from wood, wickerwork and clay.
