About the museum
In the late 1980s, Josef Sporrer and Albert Tafertshofer asked the people of Raisting, in the municipal newsletter, for old tools and implements to preserve them for future generations. Instead of founding a new association, they joined the existing Heimat- und Trachtenverein Raisting-Sölb, whose Heimat department was founded on July 31, 1990. In September 1990 the municipality made two rooms in the Alte Pfarrhof available free of charge.
On Palm Sunday 1993 the museum opened to the public with an open day and more than 80 exhibits. Four more rooms were added at the end of 1996, and a seventh in 1999. In addition, an extension was built onto a barn for large machines, with which the association demonstrates how work used to be done, such as threshing.
The building, the Alte Pfarrhof, is first mentioned in 1328 and was renovated in 1745; in 1914 it passed into municipal ownership. Today the museum shows, among other things, a general store, a schoolroom, a doctor's room, a shoemaker's workshop, a laundry and a natural history room, as well as traditional costumes, household goods, tools and archaeological finds from the Stone Age and Roman times.
